IMPORTANT: The only way we know of for international fans to receive iTunes Gifts is by getting a U.S. account. Please see Instructions for Gifting and Redeeming Gifts below. As far as we know, only accounts from the same country can send and receive gifts. That is, US account holders can send gifts only to other US account holders. They cannot, for instance, send gifts to Canadian, Japanese, or Australian accounts. In cases like this, my suggestion would be for the donors to buy the songs themselves and then to e-mail the file to the recipients.

 

NEW RECIPIENTS who have never participated in our past gifting projects: What you will need is a US iTunes account with a US billing address. Instructions on how to do this can be found in the link in Item #7 below.

 

Those who participated in past iTunes Gifting Projects are already familiar with the steps. For those who aren't -

 

HOW WE WILL DO THIS:

 

1. Sign up here yourself, or in the case of Recipients only - through a friend, or at the gifting blog (in comments). For those who sign up here, state whether you would like to be a Donor or a Recipient. If you would like to be a Donor, state how many you would like to send. For the meantime, limit pledges to a maxium of 5 gifts. For those who prefer to communicate through Twitter, please indicate your Twitter username.

 

2. After signing up, please wait to be paired with a Donor or Recipient. Recipients are assigned donors in the order by which they signed up.

 

3. The LIST OF DONORS AND RECIPIENTS will be posted HERE.

 

4. Recipients, look up your name and see who your Donors are, then contact him/her via Private Message or Twitter and provide your email address. This email address should be the same one used for your iTunes account. Make sure that it does NOT contain a country suffix (for example, ".ph" or ".sg"). Also, PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT A DONOR WHO HAS NOT BEEN ASSIGNED TO YOU.

 

5. Donors, you are to use the email address given to you when you're ready to make your gift purchase.

 

6. Donors and recipients will coordinate with each other from this point on.

 

7. Recipients, as much as possible, please post here to update me whether you have already received your gift.
